The Foundation Un Coup de Main d’Emmaus Iași
The Foundation Un Coup de Main d’Emmaus Iași is a non-governmental, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization. Un Coup de Main d’Emmaus Iasi has worked for more than 18 years with homeless people and people in precarious situation in the city of Iasi. Through its various actions, the association seeks to make them find again their human dignity through social reinsertion and work.
Its main task is the welcoming of homeless people, often coming from Romanian orphanages. In those communities, these people – we call them companions – are provided with a home and a job (in our second-hand shop or in our farm in Popesti). They learn again to live in society, to develop their self-confidence and their ambitions to get a better life and restore their dignity, often lost in the street. The goal is that, in the end, our companions leave the community to find a job, start a family, live their own life and reintegrate the Romanian society, with the inherent rights of each Romanian citizen.
